LESSON 4: Management of space, time and material resources
![]() |
SUMMARY
In this Lesson, as you can see in the tittle, we have lernt about the school's space and time management and the material resources. This includes the timetable, how should the space be at schools and how resources can be divided.
BEFORE AND AFTER STUDYING
Before this Lesson I knew about some types of timetable such as block timetable and Mosaic timetable and their characteristics, even if I did not knew their names in english, because I studied at school with there types of timetables. However, I did not know much about the space's characteristics or criteria.
After studying, I think that I know much more about the timetable and it's criteria. To do a timetable is much more complicated than we all think, because we need to evaluate the biological, pedagogical and socio-cultural criteria, among other factors.
On the one hand, the Biological criteria says that days that are not at the beginning or end of the week are usually better for school children's intellectual work and attention.
On the other hand, the Pedagogical criteria states that flexibility is necessary make changes to teaching methods, resources and materials as needed in order to encourage teaching quality
Also, Socio-cultural criteria confirms that certain social factors also play a key role in school scheduling.
For me, the most difficult part of this lesson is how an open space classroom will improve the mood of the class. Tony Haydar, managing director at Portable Partitions, told The Educator that open spaces help students to collaborate but it also can be disruptive when students have to focus on their individual tasks. So, I think that open classes can improve the relationships between the students but also must be a challenge to tghe teacher.
In my case, iI think that I should learn more about the school resources management, because I know that they are the personal and material elements of school, but I want to know more about wich resources are Center's own resources and wich ones are external to the centre.
