SUMMARY

In this lesson we have lernt about the students and teacher's rights, about the disrupting behaviours and the disciplinary educational measures that must be applied considering the magnitude of the offence.

BEFORE AND AFTER STUDYING

Before I've studied this lesson I didn't knew all the measures that the school should apply after a student breaks the school's code of conduct. I only knew about the measure where the student is expelled from the centre for a week.

Now I know so much about  the disciplinary measures that are applied at school and the students' and teachers' rights.

Student's rights and dutties

Comprehensive training.
•Objective assessment.
•Respect for one's own convictions.
•Freedom of association and assembly
Studying and attending class.
Respecting others.
Respecting the code of conduct.

For me, the most difficult part of this lesson was to understand what was the point of having  a time- out room because I did not have one at my school. The elements of obedience and self-control also constitute student discipline. Without student discipline there is chaos in the classroom. (Canter & Canter, 2001; Glasser, 1998). I agree with the author because we must have certain  control in  our class, but I don't really like the time out room because I think that they can have a negative impact in tehe mental health of some of the students.

I would like to know more about the community- building commission and which governing bodies are part of it.

ARTICLE

This article talks about how time-out rooms are developed in some shools in Chicago and about the risk of being locked in a time-out room under that circumstances.
